  • Celebrating the XXXVIII CARIFTA Aquatics Championships 2025: A Major Moment for Caribbean Water Polo

    November 13, 2025 2 min read

TheXXXVIII CARIFTA Aquatics Championships 2025 – Water Polo has just wrapped up, and what an incredible weekend it was. From November 7th to 9th, the Coral Springs Aquatic Complex became the center of water polo in the Caribbean, hosting one of the most exciting and meaningful regional tournaments of the year. KAP7 is proud to shine a spotlight on this event and the people who made it possible.

Hosted by the Aquatic Sports Association of Trinidad & Tobago (ASATT), this year’s championships brought together an impressive field of athletes. Competitors battled across multiple age groups, along with Open Male and Open Female divisions. Twenty-six invited CARIFTA Federations were represented, and the competition was elevated even further with specially invited clubs and national teams from Canada, the Dominican Republic, Mexico, Puerto Rico, and the United States. At stake were two major honors: the title of CARIFTA Regional Champion and the overall tournament championship.

A Tournament Focused on Unity, Growth, and Opportunity

While the matches were thrilling and competitive, the heart of CARIFTA 2025 was in its purpose. The event gave a platform to teams across the Caribbean that are still building their programs, many of which operate with limited resources but tremendous passion. For many young athletes, this tournament was the biggest stage they have ever played on, and their excitement and pride were felt throughout the venue.

It was equally inspiring to see additional teams from the United States join in, helping to elevate the level of play and provide meaningful experience for developing programs across the islands. The blend of regional and international participation created an environment that pushed athletes to grow, learn, and compete at their best.

Why CARIFTA Matters for Water Polo Development

Tournaments like CARIFTA are essential for the long-term growth of water polo in the Caribbean. They:

    • Showcase the potential of players who often have limited access to elite competition

    • Build enthusiasm and visibility for water polo across the region

CARIFTA 2025 showed just how strong and vibrant the Caribbean water polo community is becoming.
